The old Natwest bank site on Station Road is subject to another planning application seeking permission for an extension and change of use.

The application (plans available in City Hall and Llandaff North library) propose a significant extension, removing all the parking spaces currently there. It also sites a service bay on Evansfield Road. It would require delivery lorries to reverse across Evansfield Rd into the narrow bay.

Public Meeting

Campaigner David Coggins Cogan co-chaired a meeting held by the Llandaff North Residents' Association (LNRA) this month. He said "The response is overwhelmingly negative. Residents do not want a large development on a busy and dangerous junction. Even the residents who do want to see the building used are sceptical about a large store with no parking". Ward councillor, Ann Rowland-James, also complained of the secrecy surrounding the application, saying "Tesco had their name on the last application, so why are they being so coy this time?".

What Happened Last Time?

The last application was withdrawn, after Cardiff Council planning officers recommended the application be refused. David Coggins Cogan said "I think residents would feel happier if the retailer was more honest. How can we negotiate with a retailer who hides behind agencies and blueprints?".
