For ten years Cllr Ann Rowland-James has campaigned for improved access at Llandaff railway station.

The Llandaff North Focus Team is pleased to report after 10 years of Liberal Democrat campaigning for disabled access Llandaff North's railway station, the Conservatives are joining our campaign.

Jonathan Morgan AM tweeted (using the social media Twitter) that he had been in a productive chat with the First Minister about providing disabled access to the railway station.

400,000 Passengers

Cllr Jacqui Hooper said "I'm glad the Tories finally see what a problem access is at one of the Cardiff's busiest stations outside the city centre. This station serves 400,000 passengers per year and we are still campaigning for Arriva Trains Wales to invest in Llandaff North and provide disabled access to the railway station".

History of Action

Cllr Ann Rowland-James, who has been campaigning for access since before she was first elected in 2004, welcomed the move, adding "Jonathan Morgan hasn't contacted me directly to discuss disabled access provision at Llandaff Station, but I welcome him joining my campaign. I'll always pick up my telephone to someone who wants to help the residents". Your Focus Team have been working on this project for the last 10 years.

Why Now?

Campaigner David Coggins Cogan commented "Residents have questioned why Jonathan Morgan is suddenly interested in us a mere 11 months before the Assembly elections when the Lib Dems have been working on this for years".

Parliamentary Questions

In 2007, Cllr Ann Rowland-James petitioned Simon Hughes MP to ask a Parliamentary question regarding Llandaff Station. He asked the Secretary of State for Transport "...what action he plans to take to improve access for people with disabilities at Llandaff Station...". Needless to say, the answer given was not a commitment to actually do anything.

The Lib Dems have a proven track record of action on this issue. David said "Jonathan isn't very good at being on time; he was too late in his objection to the Glantaf floodlights and he's ten years late on this issue".

You Wait 10 Years for a Tory...

Assembly Spokesman John Dixon added "I'm glad the trains serving Llandaff Station are more regular than the Tories - we've waited 10 years for a Tory to turn up and support the campaign!".
